Online education courses for refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp

With the support of the Lenovo Foundation, we have deployed four Big Boxes to help with the delivery of Amala’s (formerly known as Sky School) blended learning courses in Kakuma Refugee Camp and the Kalobeyei Settlement in Kenya, and Mpaka Refugee Camp in Eswatini.

In Kakuma Refugee Camp, one Big Box is helping deliver Amala’s courses through Faulu Production. Faulu Production is a community-based organisation which supports vulnerable refugees and empowers disadvantaged youths and women through participatory development and education. Their mission is to promote young talents and advocate for access to quality education and lifelong learning.

In March 2020, a Big Box system was sent via post to Faulu Production to run the courses along with devices donated by the Lenovo Foundation.
